Health Savings Account

If you enroll in the HSA Core or HSA Value medical plan, you have access to a Health Savings Account (HSA) through HealthEquity. With this tax-advantaged account, you can use it to pay for eligible health care expenses for you and your eligible dependents, tax-free for federal income tax purposes (state laws may vary).

Employees enrolled in the HSA Core or HSA Value medical plan.
Contributions
Employee contributions
Choose an amount to set aside for the year, up to the IRS limits below. The money is deducted from each of your paychecks on a pre-tax basis. You can start, stop, or adjust your contribution amount anytime during the year.
Company contributions
The Company contributes to your HSA to help you pay for eligible medical expenses up to a maximum value each year.
Annual IRS contribution limits
The IRS sets a limits on the maximum amount you can contribute to your HSA each year. The Company’s contribution and your contribution cannot exceed the below values.
- 2026 — individuals up to $4,400 / family up to $8,750
- 2027 — individuals up to $4,500 / family up to $9,000
- If you are aged 55+, you can make an additional $1,000 catch-up contribution each year.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you track your HSA contributions throughout the year — exceeding the IRS annual limit can result in tax penalties. You are responsible for staying within the allowed maximum.
Change my contributions
You can change the amount you contribute to your HSA at any time during the year by:
- Logging in to the LSC Benefits Center and clicking on Change Your HSA Election
- Calling 888-681-2241
Eligible expenses
Medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision expenses not covered by your insurance are all eligible. See the full list of IRS-approved expenses here.
Funds
- Availability of funds — Funds are available as they’re withheld from your paycheck and deposited into your account
- Accessing funds — Use a HealthEquity debit card for eligible expenses, or file claims directly for reimbursement
